Matt West

Matt has worked at Beanies Wholefoods for 25 years, buying fresh vegetables and fruit for the lively, colourful shop in Crookes Valley, and helping start Sheffield’s first Organic Box Scheme. A keen allotment gardener, joining Sheffield Organic Growers fulfilled his long held ambition to grow food on a much larger scale and increase the amount of genuinely local produce available in the shop. Almost all Matt’s produce goes to Beanies, and although he now spends most of his time growing, he still helps out there at busy times.

Matt also started Over The Hedge with Sally and El - a joint veg-and-flower growing venture on the Sheffield Organic Growers site. The majority of the veg is sold by Beanies, but Sally and El's flowers are available to buy through both the SOG and Moss Valley veg bags, as well as offering bespoke wedding flowers, hosting Pick-You-Own events, wreath-making workshops and plenty more!
